Arrest made in threat against Lake Placid Middle School

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with making a school shooting threat against Lake Placid Middle School.

 

The seventh-grader is facing charges of written/sent threat to kill or injure, disturbance of a school function and using a two-way device to facilitate a felony.

 

The threat surfaced overnight on a now-deleted Instagram account, and resulted in more than 400 students being absent from the school today.

 

The investigation into the motive and if anyone else was involved is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det.
