Broward County’s Department of Fire Rescue joined BSO in 2003 marking the first time in the history of our country that a fire rescue department and a sheriff’s office were united under one agency.
This union provides many benefits. Though our departments of law enforcement and fire rescue perform different tasks, they have the same goal: the protection and safety of our residents. Working together as a team, each and every day, makes these departments, and our community, better and safer as a whole. Our agency is made up of many different departments, and many people who serve in various roles to help keep our community safe, but we are one BSO.
