The Broward Sheriff’s Office will continue sharing with others on Nov. 21.
This Saturday, BSO employees will distribute baskets consisting of a turkey and other holiday meal fixings to 600 families in need in BSO’s north, central and south regions. Ticket vouchers were given to selected families identified as in need of assistance by BSO deputies, fire personnel and/or staff members. The families will be required to present their vouchers the day of the event to collect their holiday turkey/meal fixings.
On Wednesday, Nov. 18, Undersheriff Nichole Anderson and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Events and Logistics Unit continued BSO’s annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway by distributing 1,080 turkeys to approximately 70 Broward County religious institutions and/or charitable organizations. This distribution took place between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at BSO’s District 11 Pompano Beach office located at 100 S.W. 3rd Street.
These events could not be possible without contributions from the Broward Sheriffs Advisory Council (BSAC), Alfa Romeo of Fort Lauderdale and Feeding South Florida. BSAC sponsored the purchase of the turkeys, while Alfa Romeo of Fort Lauderdale provided funding for the fixings. Our community partner, Feeding South Florida, donated food items to be placed in the baskets.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, BSO’s Special Events and Logistics Unit has worked closely with BSO employees and local community members to identify and provide aid to families needing a hand up. The unit aims to continue this work this holiday season through the implementation of its holiday theme: Broward Sheriff’s Office Sharing with Others.
