This holiday season, Sheriff Gregory Tony and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Events and Logistics Unit will continue BSO’s annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. Turkeys will be distributed to various religious institutions and venues throughout BSO’s jurisdiction on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020.
BSO will also distribute baskets consisting of a turkey and other holiday meal fixings to 600 families in need on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020. This distribution will take place in three regions (North, Central and South), and four BSO districts in each of the specified regions mentioned will participate in the distribution of these baskets.
For the family giveaway, ticket vouchers were given to selected families identified as in need of assistance by BSO deputies, fire personnel and/or staff members. The families will be required to present their vouchers the day of the event to collect their holiday turkey/meal fixings.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, BSO’s Special Events and Logistics Unit has worked closely with BSO employees and local community members to identify and provide aid to families needing a hand up. The unit aims to continue this work this holiday season through the implementation of its holiday theme: Broward Sheriff’s Office Sharing with Others.
MEDIA NOTE: For more information about the times and locations of these events, please contact BSO’s Public Information Office via email at Media_Relations@sheriff.org.
