Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who was hit while walking in a designated bicycle lane. At approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, BSO deputies responded to a traffic crash in the 1600 block of Northwest 49th Court in Deerfield. Deputies located a crash involving a pedestrian and a 2001 Ford F-250, driven by Gregory Dunn. Preliminary investigation revealed that Dunn was travelling eastbound in the left thru lane of Northwest 49th Court when he entered the dedicated bicycle lane and struck the pedestrian who was walking in the lane. At the time of the crash, Dunn abruptly maneuvered his vehicle which caused it to rotate counterclockwise, slide across the eastbound lanes and strike the raised center median. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and transported the pedestrian to Broward Health North where the victim was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:44 a.m. Dunn remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The traffic homicide investigation is ongoing.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a single vehicle crash that left a man dead Sunday morning.

At approximately 11:21 a.m., March 21, Broward Regional Communications received a call regarding a vehicle crash at the 3100 block of Southwest 15th Street in Pompano Beach. BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and located a single vehicle crash involving a blue 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Hyundai was traveling eastbound on Southwest 15th Street approaching the intersection of Southwest 31st Avenue. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off the roadway, traveled over the raised concrete curb and onto the center median before striking a palm tree. The vehicle then rotated counterclockwise and came to a final rest in the roadway facing northbound.

According to detectives, the driver of the Hyundai was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown into the passenger seat of the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics.
