Various community groups in Pompano Beach, including the Broward Sheriff’s Office, are joining together to hand out 2,000 turkeys and other Thanksgiving food items on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Citi Centre, located at 1955 N. Federal Highway. Several hundred turkeys will be provided to pre-selected families in the city, and the rest of the turkeys and food items will be handed out on a first come, first served basis.
BSO deputies and community service aides will help coordinate the drive-thru event.
Multiple governmental, civic and religious groups, along with a number of area businesses, are also participating. The City of Pompano Beach, the Rotary Club of Pompano Beach, Calvary Chapel and New Beginnings Worship Center International are assisting with the event. Affinity Group, Associated Grocer, St. Coleman’s Catholic Church, Holy Cross Hospital Group, Keith & Associates, Rotary Satellite Club, First Presbyterian Church, Pompano Beach Woman’s Club and the Pompano Beach Credit Union also helped raise funds and donations for the event.
A total of more than $23,000 was raised and countless food items donated to support this worthy cause.
