On September 3, 2020, around 8:00, the Cape Coral Police Department was called to the 200 block of SE 24th Ave in regards to a burglary in progress. The victim said that he flagged down a Lee County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant as that was driving by and the Lieutenant had the burglar detained.
When Officers arrived on scene, they spoke with the victim and a witness who saw Zachary Roberts inside the victim’s vehicle and helped keep him on scene until police arrived. The witness said Roberts begged him to not call the police.
Officers took custody of Roberts who was later charged with Burglary and Petit Theft. Roberts is currently in the Lee County Jail
