Yesterday, the final member of an 18-person drug trafficking organization (DTO), Jeff Beard (11/19/1989), was sentenced to 32 years in federal prison.
This was a multi-year investigation into a drug trafficking organization operating out of the Suncoast area in North Fort Myers. This organization was run by Tony Wilson Jr., AKA Cane, who was sentenced last year to life in prison plus five years. Other involved individuals received sentences ranging from 3 years to 32 years.
This organization was responsible for trafficking large amounts of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine into the streets of Lee County. It was also linked to numerous violent crimes and overdose investigations.
Numerous members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) dedicated thousands of man hours to this case. Coordination with local partners and the diligent detective work was key in bringing this massive organization down and the criminals to justice.
