K-9 Justice Locates Battery Suspect
On 09-02-2020, an employee at the RaceTrac, located at 16128 Cortez Boulevard, was receiving complaints of a female, later identified as Maryjane Bergen DOB/12-20-1990, sleeping on the ground outside of the business. The employee went outside to check and located Bergen sleeping outside of the store. Bergen became verbally aggressive when asked to leave by the employee. Bergen began spitting at the employee, striking the employee in the face.
Fortunately, the employee was wearing a face mask.
Bergen then left the scene and walked across the street.
Once deputies arrived on scene, they requested the K-9 Unit to assist in locating Bergen.
Cpl. Miller and K-9 Justice responded quickly and began their track. After a short track through a ditch along the road and into a wooded area, K-9 Justice successfully located Bergen laying on the ground in the wooded area. Bergen then surrendered and was taken into custody.
She was charged with Battery. Bond was set at $2,000.
