A traffic stop in Immokalee on Thursday led to an arrest of an 18-year-old man on multiple charges and the seizure of drugs and a firearm by deputies.
John Martin Saavedra Arrelano of 408 Wells St. is charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrest reports gave this account:
Saavedra Arrelano was driving a red Lexus passenger car with dark tint around 1:25 p.m. Thursday when a deputy saw him roll through a stop sign at the intersection of Immokalee Drive and Carson Road.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Saavedra Arrelano. The deputy immediately detected a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Saavedra Arrelano admitted to not having a medical marijuana card and handed the deputy a clear bag of suspect marijuana. The suspect marijuana was field tested positive for the presence of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
A search of the vehicle by deputies turned up the following:
– 733 grams of green leaf marijuana
– 649 grams of Eureka vaping oil (THC)
– 280.7 grams of Medi Nuggz White Chocolate of THC edibles
– 10.2 grams of Xanax
– Two digital scales
– A loaded .45-caliber handgun
Saavedra Arrelano was additionally charged with driving with a suspended license and was issued written warnings for failure to stop and window tint violation.
An investigation continues and more charges may be forthcoming, deputies said.
