A suspect has been arrested in connection with an arson fire that claimed the life of one person at a residence in Golden Gate early this morning.

Detectives said the suspect has been charged with second-degree murder and arson.

Deputies responded to a residential fire in the 5300 block of 24th Avenue Southwest at 12:01 am. Five people, including the suspect and victim, were inside the residence when the fire broke out, according to detectives.

One of the other occupants suffered injuries and was transported by ambulance to a burn center on the east coast for treatment.
