A 25-year-old man is facing felony charges after deputies say he tried to break into two occupied vehicles in a residential neighborhood in Golden Gate Estates.
Jonathan L. Gomez of 5583 Jonquil Circle, North Naples, was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of burglary of an occupied conveyance.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office reports gave this account:
The victims were traveling in two separate vehicles to a relative’s house in the 4300 block of 18th Street Northeast around 10:45 p.m. Sunday night. One of the vehicles was in the driveway of the residence when Gomez approached the vehicle, which had three people inside including a toddler, and began pulling on the front passenger door handle in an attempt to enter the vehicle. Gomez pulled hard enough to break the handle loose from the vehicle. He became increasingly hostile and began cursing at the passenger. He struck one of the windows in an attempt to gain entry. The driver had to accelerate away from Gomez in order to get out of the situation.
The other vehicle, occupied by an adult and two children, pulled into the driveway where Gomez approached the driver door and began pulling on the door handle and cursing at the driver. Gomez attempted to strike the driver through the open window. The driver moved the vehicle to avoid getting hit, causing Gomez to strike the mirror with his fist.
Deputies located Gomez down the street at another residence where he was identified by the victims and subsequently arrested.
