A small, single engine plane made an emergency landing on southbound Interstate 75 in Collier County this morning.
Deputies said the two-seat P2004 light sport aircraft landed safely on the road shoulder near Mile Marker 107/Pine Ridge Road shortly before 10 a.m. after the pilot reported engine problems.
Both the pilot and passenger were uninjured and the plane did not sustain any damage, deputies said.
The plane was coming from Sanford and was making its final approach to Naples Municipal Airport when it began experiencing engine failure, deputies said.
The incident caused the southbound entry ramp to be shut down, but I-75 remained open to traffic.
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the incident, deputies said.
