Hillsborough (September 19, 2020) – Thirty years ago today, a work crew found the body of a young female just beyond the New Hope Road exit on I-40. Now known as Hope and New Hope Jane Doe, she remains unidentified.
The victim was approximately five feet three inches tall and weighed about 120 pounds. She was between 15 and 25 years old, most likely on the younger end of this range. She had blonde, possibly frosted hair, and she was found wearing a pink sweatshirt with three bunnies on the front.
Investigators believe the victim was likely a runaway. Some witnesses at the time reported seeing someone matching her description at a truck stop going in and out of tractor trailers. However, no one has been able to identify her.
