On May 4th, 2020 this 28′ Hydra Sport was stolen from a residence off of CR 452 in Lake County. Almost immediately, the family posted the picture below of the boat on social media asking for help. Tips began to pour in about a vehicle that was clearly overloaded, towing the described boat in the area. As the tips continued, detectives were able to determine the location of the stolen vessel with the listed value of $45,000 and recovered it for the victim.
After an in-depth investigation, detectives determined that Christian Phillip Jones (27) of Leesburg was the suspect in the theft. Not only had Mr. Jones stolen the vessel, he sold it to give him the money to post the bail of his girlfriend who was incarcerated. On May 12th, Mr. Jones was located and arrested for grand theft and dealing in stolen property. Jones is currently (at the time of this post) in the custody of the Lake County Detention Center being held on a $10,000 bail.
