During the latest episode of Shop Talk with the Sheriff, Sheriff Gregory Tony talks with Laurie Sallarulo, president and CEO of the Junior Achievement of South Florida (JASF) who is leading the way empowering the next generation with real world education.
Sallarulo oversees a team of more than 40 people and manages a 60,000 square foot facility that serves about 55,000 K-12 students each year with programs on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness. Through JASF, students learn how they impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers.
“If we can prepare people with the skills, the knowledge and the confidence to be great employees with those critical transferable skills, they can go work in any industry. As the jobs of the future change that’s all we can predict, that they will need those same critical soft skills,” Sallarulo said.
JASF serves an important role in our community by inspiring our youth to succeed in a global economy. “In the future, these young people will be your consumers, voters, entrepreneurs and much more,” Sallarulo said.
