Man with large amount of cocaine arrested


A 29-year-old Key West man was arrested Monday afternoon for possessing 24 ounces of cocaine.


Andres Rivera was charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for illegally tinted windows.


Sgt. David Fernandez stopped a Ford Focus on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 8.5 at approximately 4:13 p.m. for illegal window tint.


A U.S. Border Patrol K9 unit stopped to assist and alerted to drugs in the vehicle.


Twenty-four ounces of cocaine were found in vacuumed sealed bags in the trunk, along with a digital scale. $3,600 in cash was found in a duffel bag.


Rivera was taken to jail.
