The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed some of the fundamental challenges facing residents across Broward County, including the need and demand for food. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is proud to have partnered with Feeding South Florida and other community groups over the past nine months to help disseminate more than four million pounds of food to people in need.
The driving force behind these efforts is Captain Audrey Jones, from BSO’s Special Events and Logistics Unit. On the latest episode of Shop Talk with the Sheriff, Captain Jones joins Sheriff Gregory Tony to discuss the impact of BSO’s efforts to coordinate countless food distribution events since the beginning of the pandemic in order to provide a lifeline to food and other services for those who require assistance.
