There is an imposter calling victim’s claiming to be an Amazon employee. The imposter advises the recipient of the call that a credit card was opened in his/her name and fraudulent purchases were made online. The imposter will then transfer the call to another male who is claiming to be a Deputy with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. This imposter male identifies himself as, Deputy Soul and provides a fake badge number. The imposter deputy then demands the last four digits of the recipient’s social security number stating that he needs to report this action to the Department of Social Security and the Treasury Department and if he/she does not provide the information, there will be “legal action”. The latest call was received on December 4, 2020.
