The impact of absent fathers in the lives of youth in our society is long-lasting and far-reaching. Gernald Hawkins Sr., the founder of Fathers M.I.A., decided to do something about it. Join Sheriff Gregory Tony and Hawkins for a dynamic and important discussion about the ways Fathers M.I.A. is helping fathers go from “Missing In Action” to “Motivated, Involved and Active” in the latest episode of Shop Talk with the Sheriff.
Fathers M.I.A.’s goal is to promote the importance of fatherhood and family through fostering an appreciation between fathers and children. The organization provides programs to assist in the development of fatherhood, mentors fatherless youth, offers scholarships and provides educational and life development.
“Our vision is to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and turn the hearts of the children back to their father,” Hawkins said. “Our mission is to change the world one child at a time by integrating the father’s role back into the existing family unit.”
