A man was transported to Lower Keys Medical Center early Tuesday morning with non-life threatening injuries after a fire broke out in a trailer.
The man’s name was not immediately clear as he was taken to the hospital by paramedics prior to the Sheriff’s Office arrival at approximately 2:56 a.m.
The fire occurred at 157 Toppino Industrial Drive.
Smoke was coming from the attic of the structure, but most of the flames were extinguished prior to the Sheriffs’ Office arrival.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
Teen arrested for illegal firearm possession
An 18-year-old Miami man was arrested Sunday nightafter attempting to hide a handgun from Deputies.
Jose Antonio Martinez was charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a license and tampering with evidence.
Deputies Joel Torres and Wedlet Jean Jacques noticed a large group of people loitering near Avenue B and Tarpon Basin Drive in Key Largo at approximately 8:51 p.m.
Deputy Torres observed one man, later identified as Martinez, attempting to hide something in the bushes. A Taurus 9mm handgun was found in the bushes.
Martinez stated he came to Key Largo from Miami to obtain a “clip” or magazine for the gun.
Martinez was taken to jail.
